PAST

Yim Tin Tsai was a Hakka village as well as Catholic town, which was really rare. Until now, the Hakka Chan's village has about three hundred years history. Since 1880, the ancestor of Chan's village has embraced Catholics while the St. Joseph Chapel in the island is the "origin" of Hong Kong Catholics.

PRESENT

Nowadays, no villagers are staying in the island, except the village head CHAN (frequently going back to work and relax) and the storekeepers of the mini-store. However, YTT has become a tourist spot for local and non-local visitors while Catholics also go there for mass. Weekend and holidays are the most crowded period on the island.

FUTURE

As the village head and the volunteers are working on the conservation of YTT, the island is hopefully developing as a tourist spot while re-operating salt field. Because of the Catholics background, the conservation on infrastructure is not only limited to the renovation of households but also that of prayer rooms.
